A window of opportunity to obtain health information in Africa, Lancet
The editorial comments in accordance with the limited access to health information for health care in poor settings highlighted in Article Fiona Godlees public health (see p. 295 and a press release issued July 9). The Lancet The expansion of Internet access beyond the capital cities of countries in sub-Saharan Africa is fundamental to increasing access to information for health professionals. The editorial concludes: We urge governments of countries in sub-Saharan Africa to ensure that their telecommunications networks are sold to private companies operating in ifand only ifthe make a binding commitment to improve services in the capital.urban regional platforms could be a point of dissemination of health information at district level.The Lancet
