Award for excellence in public participation in science started in the UK

A prize to promote a new generation of scientists, the public about science and society has been of the Royal Society, the National Academy of Science involved today. The Royal Society Kohn Award aims to encourage young scientists and to adopt best practices involving the public hearing. The winner receives a prize of 2, 500, a contribution of 7,500 for the communication of science and silver gilt medal. Public dialogue activities covered by the award could refer to any scientific or technological discipline within the jurisdiction of the Royal Society. These include mathematics, engineering, agriculture and medical research and the science of archeology, geography and experimental psychology. Applications will be on the quality of advocacy and the perceived current or future impact of their work to take place, most of which have in the United Kingdom are evaluated. The deadline for entries is October 15, 2004.
