Requip (reg) (ropinirole HCl) significantly improved symptoms of restless legs syndrome at least 1 week
More than a third of patients treated with GlaxoSmithKline Requip (ropinirole HCl) have Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) in clinical studies have shown a significant improvement in symptoms than a week, so the results of the Associated Professional Sleep Society 18th Annual Meeting presented in Philadelphia. The results were pooled data from three double-blind, placebo-controlled study in Requip RLS, which included 618 patients aged 18 to 79 Requip is currently provided by the U.S.Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treatment of RLS. There are currently no treatment approved for RLS in the United States.The results show that experience more than one third of patients showed a significant improvement in their symptoms with one week of treatment Requip. patients showed improvement in the placebo group, said Philip Becker, MD, professor of clinical psychiatry at Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and Medical Director of the Sleep Medicine Institute at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, which has been the principal investigator of study. These results are encouraging, as most of those patients who have already experienced the unsettling and unpleasant sensations of RLS for years.Restless legs syndrome is a neurological movement disorder by an uncontrollable urge to move the legs and described characterized by unpleasant and sometimes painful sensations in the legs, often as creeping, burning or contractions. These symptoms usually occur at rest, such as when sitting, lying or sleeping, and are temporarily relieved by
movement.
