USC receives nearly $ 3.

Researchers at the University of Southern California (USC), received approximately $ 3,400,000 by the Institute for Regenerative Medicine California (CIRM) for stem cell research. We are pleased these grants awarded by CIRM to the dynamics of USCS in stem cell research must continue, says Martin Pera, Ph.D., director of the Center for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine USCS (CSCRM) and professor of biology cell and neurobiology at the Keck School of Medicine. The development of our proposals lead to new collaborative interactions between researchers at USC, including the Keck School of Medicine and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and regional institutions such as Caltech. We have the potential for creating new interdisciplinary teams to work together, using the strengths ofKenalog usaindividual institutions.
USC proposals that have been selected for funding are: the therapeutic potential of cell lines derived retinal pigment epithelial cells from human embryonic stem cells for retinal degeneration, David Hinton, University of Southern California. * Screening for oncogenic epigenetic changes in human embryonic stem cells, William Peter Laird, University of Southern California. * HESC as a means of neural crest origin of Ewings sarcoma, Elizabeth Lawlor, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles to investigate. * Regulation of human rights proliferation of neural progenitor cells of Ryk-mediated Wnt signaling pathway, cheek Lu, University of Southern California.
* Self-renewal of human embryonic stem cells, Qilong Ying, University of Southern California. USCKenalog usarecognizes the importance of stem cell research and is committed to progress in the field. In recent years we have grown our recruitment center of some of the brightest minds in the field of stem cell research, said Brian Henderson, MD, dean of the USC Keck School of Medicine. The CIRM funding our aggressive recruitment efforts for positions are coupled important discoveries in the field of stem cells.
