titanium implants are much easier to identify stainless steel systems. - Implants in the lower limbs are 10 times more frequently than upper limbs and 11 times more than established plants of the spine.- Upper extremity prostheses, such as total shoulder replacements, wrist and total replacement of replacement of the radial head, were not detected. Our results for surgeons to counsel patients about their implants and security agencies through the identification, medical devices, along with metal detectors on their way, said Edward K. Rodriguez, MD, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. During the study one month, 129 subjects were used, with a total of 149 implants over a metal detector M-Scope three-zone at the airport.It was programmed for both low and high, with a
sensitivity equivalent to the U.S. Transportation Security Administration settings. Fifty-seven of 149 implants were detected at low sensitivity, and 77 were detected with high sensitivity. The type of plant, equipment, composition and position of the implant into the body were independent predictors of detection.At present, we believe our study is important because none of the tests were conducted in the United States
